Hmmm i think i'll update this thread as we get more news about the proposed Steam release. They also all failed to have such a nice aesthetic as Cube World, something about the graphics and sound in Cube World are so uplifting? Sure we had the copy-cats (Trove iirc) but all of them were very 'thin' games compared to what it seems Cube World will be like on release very soon (fingers crossed!). I guess what i like the most about Cube World is there is nothing really like it out there. You are pretty much obliged to have some kind of paid online account AND the cost of games is ridiculous, and even second hand games (getting more rare as consoles move from physical DVD's to online) stay very costly for years after release. Did you play the alpha? I would say it is a very different game to minecraft, much more in a Zelda/Rogue-like theme.Īlso the thing to consider about modern consoles is that it is an expensive hobby (vs being a gamer on PC).

I'm really considering getting a PS4 Pro this Christmas, though I would really want Builders on PC. I've managed to avoid both this and Minecraft, but I think Dragon Quest Builders will get me.

It's a Zelda and Minecraft inspired RPG, where explorey quests are dropped into a procedurally generated blocky landscape. The voxel-based Minecraftbut was first written about in the vellum back pages of RPS in 2011, by the ancient and wise Rossignol. Cube World’s development has been its own epic quest.
